The November 7-8 trip to TRF was most enjoyable. It was wonderful to see so many of the faces from faires past, as well as some from my previous trip to the Festival. I was properly introduced to Celtic music this trip as well, beautiful music virtually unknown to me before.
Having learned from the prior trip, we left an hour and a half later, reaching the fairgrounds a little after eight Saturday morning. Also calling upon prior experience, we made sure that we were in the "front row" for the opening gate ceremonies and thus were able to hear and see them this time.
Last trip, the group included my brother, his girlfriend Jutea, and myself. This time, the group expanded to include Matthew Duvall, Jennifer, and Andrew. As he had promised, Chris and the others who had begun their journey elsewhere - passed Matthew and I on the road and parked one space ahead of us.
Early morning, pre-opening gate
Saturday, I was escorted by Nikolai Wispersteppe-Borodin, fair Scarborough's Gypsy King
One of our first stops was at the Studio of the Wynd, where we were greeted most graciously by Weaver
Later in the day, we were treated to the best food we have ever had at a faire, courtesy of this wonderful chef:
We met up with members of Nikolai's vitsa both days, beginning with Valentin and later Franjoko right, Patrick is to Nikolai's left
As fate would have it, we encountered Nikolai's wife Nadia outside the gates
On the following day, Lord Donovan and I met up with Nikolai's daughter Sonya
As long as we are speaking of Scarborough, let us not forget Ellen Horr who is Queen Margaret of TRF, attended by the Nanny:
By the time the torrents hit Saturday evening, we were safely ensconced under our gracious hosts' roof, awaiting another wonderful repast.
Please proceed to the library for Sunday's photos or to the study for other photos from both days.
